A graduation ceremony for Skills Development Training Program was held in Peshawar today. About 200 youth from the newly merged tribal districts (NMTDs) completed 6 months training in Hospitality Management under USAID funded FATA Economic Revitalization Program (FERP).
Mr Atif Khan, Senior Minister of Tourism, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government was the Chief Guest. Ms Ayesha Khan ‘Country Director Hashoo Foundation’, representatives of USAID, UNDP, Hashoo Hunar and trainers from Hashoo Foundation also attended the graduation ceremony.
Under current batch of 200 youth from North Waziristan, South Waziristan and Khyber NMTDs were trained at special training centres of Hashoo Foundation in three main specializations; reception operation & services, accommodation operation & services and professional cooking.
The training consisted of theory, classroom-style sessions, site visits, face-to-face conversations with industry professionals and hands-on training at five-star hotels system in Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Muzaffarabad and Bhurban.
The graduate trainees of Hospitality Management shared their experience of how they upgraded their skills to international standards through significant hands-on training with industry professionals.
So far, 368 youth have been trained in hospitality management under the USAID funded FATA Economic Revitalization Program. The Skill Development Training is part of the USAID funded FATA Economic Revitalisation Program, implemented by UNDP, that aims to provide sustainable livelihood and income-generating opportunities to returnees, leading to long-term economic growth and contributing to resilience and economic revitalisation of NMTDs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The trainees thanked Hashoo Foundation for successfully executing and completing the program. They told Tribal Post, this was a high-quality training which needed the most. They said that such kind of opportunities will not only empower the economy in NMTDs but also help in bringing peace and stability in the region.
