Tribal areas provincial election under Pak army control

Security forces will be deployed inside and outside polling stations and printing of ballot papers for the KP-assembly elections in the merged tribal areas.

Forces personnel will be deployed inside and outside all polling stations during elections for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assembly elections in the recently merged tribal districts of erstwhile FATA.

“Pakistan Armed Forces/Civil Armed Forces shall assist Election Commission of Pakistan and make necessary security arrangements for conduct of elections in KP assembly in erstwhile FATA districts scheduled to be held on 20th July, 2019,” an ECP notification stated.

Forces will be deployed from July 18 to 21 “for provision of secure environment to assist ECP in conduct of election in free, fair and transparent manner”, the ECP added, “After the close of poll, the troops shall be deployed at the offices of Returning Officers till consolidation of election results.”

Army’s personnel will also be deployed at the Printing Corporation of Pakistan in Islamabad during July 5 — 20, “to make foolproof security arrangements during printing/staking and storage of ballot papers”, and to provide security during transportation of ballot papers from printing press to the offices of ROs and DROs and back to the ECP offices.

Mobile Vigilance Teams, Quick Reaction Force (QRF), and reserves troops would also be on duty “in all constituencies as part of an integrated security mechanism to provide secure environment” for the secure conduct of the elections, the ECP added.
