FDMA to pay Rs 520 million to North Waziristan IDPs

Government to releases Rs 250 million funds to the North Waziristan IDPs in three installments through FMDA as Rs 36000 per installment, FDMA Director Sohail Khan announced.

Peshawar — The Director Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) Dr. Sohail Khan on Wednesday announced that total Rs 520 million will be given to the internally displaced families of North Waziristan tribal district.

The director FDMA said that the amount will be given to the Internally Displaced Person (IDPs) in three installments as Rs 36000 per installment.

Dr. Sohail said that the fund will help the IDPs enough to fulfill their basic needs. However, he did not told when the funds will be started giving to the displaced families.

He said that the government is trying to facilitate the people of North Waziristan during the rehabilitation process and the payment would be started after completion of their repatriation.

It is worth to mention here, the IDPs in Bannu’s Bakakhel camp have threatened to start protest against FMDA which they complained that their funds were stopped since the last four months.

North Waziristan has the largest number of IDPs than other tribal districts of the erstwhile FATA. Pakistan army has completed dozens of military operations after launching a comprehansive operation Zarb-e-Azb in 2014
