Anti-FCR ‘Fata Reforms Movement launched’ demanding merger with KP

Political leaders and other activists demand government Fata’s earlier merger into KP before October 9, otherwise they will arrange massive sit-in in Islamabad against FCR.

Khyber Agency/Peshawar — Political leaders and tribal elders demanded government to implement reforms and announce early merger of the Federally Administer Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) otherwise tribal people have to stage a massive sit-in in the capital Islamabad.

In a huge gathering held on Sunday in Paka Tara area of Bar-Kamber Khel village in Tehsil Bara, Khyber Agency, the FATA political leadership launched FATA Reforms Movement to win rights for the terror hit tribal region and its people. They categorically criticized the incumbent government for adopting delaying tactics in Fata reforms implementation.

The meeting was organized was organized by Member National Assembly (MNA) NA-45, Haji Shahji Gul Afridi flanked by MNA, Shahabuddin, ex-Parliamentarians, lawyers, tribal elders, students, leaders of different political parties, elites beside large numbers of public.

Addressing on the occasion speakers including Haji Shaje Gul Afridi, Shahbuddin, Latif advocate of Awami National Party (ANP), Haji Abdur Rehman, Ijaz Mohmand (Fata Lawyers Forum), Shah Faisal of Jamat Islami (JI), Hazrat Wali Afridi of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Abdul Ghani of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Habibullah Aurkzai Mutahida Qabail Party and others asked the government to abolish the century old British Law, immediately Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) from Fata and merge it with KP.

Politicians, tribal elders, students, youth and activists were present at the gathering.

Putting their demands before the government, the speakers stressed for forthwith merging of FATA with KP, provision of representation in the provincial assembly and allotment of 3% part to Fata in National Finance Commission (NFC) award.

The tribal leaders unanimously agreed to begin Fata Reforms Movement to safeguard interests of the tribal people.

They pronounced deadline that if their demands were not accepted before 9th of October, they would have no other option but to set off a sit-in in Islamabad.

Fata’s people are fighting for abolishing the FCR and merging the region into KP since the last decade. Politicians, elders, social activists, youth and student unanimously demand complete abolish to the British born colonial laws FCR and protest for fundamental rights for the tribal people.

Prime Minister’s established reforms committee have proposed a 5-year long merger process which was to be implemented earlier this year but still in vain.
