2nd Fata Youth Festival opened at Jamrud, over 1,800 players participating

More than 1,800 players from across the FATA are participating in 30 different games in the FAT Youth Festival to be continued until May 1, 2017.

Jamrud — Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra inaugurated the 2nd Governor FATA Youth Festival here on Friday.

Flanked by the FATA parliamentarians including Nasir Khan Afridi and Haji Shahji Gul, tribal elders, civil society members and officials of the Fata Secretariat, the governor was attending open ceremony of the 4-day festival at Jamrud Sports Complex.

According to official sources, the festival is being held simultaneously at Khyber, Kurram, Bajaur and South Waziristan agencies, including Frontier Regions of Bannu and Peshawar.

More than 1,800 players from across the FATA are participating in 30 different games in the festival. A cultural show will also be organized on the occasion and the event will be concluded in May 1, 2017.

Speaking on the occasion Jhagra said that government is interested in promoting games and other activities in FATA. He said, sports stadiums have also been constructed in different parts of the FATA, including North Waziristan, South Waziristan and Khyber Agency.

The governor also announced to install flood lights at Jamrud Sports Complex. “Such mega event is being organized for the first time in FATA,” Jhagra said.

The first Governor FATA Youth Festival was held in December 2015 in Peshawar. During the weeklong festival, more than 1700 players from different parts of Fata had participated in 30 different sports events in the Qayum Sports Complex, Peshawar.
